Are you fascinated by the living world and the mysteries of life itself? Do you want to understand how organisms’ function, evolve, and interact? Then studying Biological Sciences could be the perfect path for you. Our courses equip you with essential theoretical knowledge, practical laboratory skills, and the analytical tools needed to explore the diverse fields within Biological Sciences, preparing you for a fulfilling career in this dynamic discipline. All our undergraduate courses are accredited by the relevant professional bodies and our MSc Biomedical and Analytical Science is accredited by Royal Society of Biology (RSB).
You’ll delve into fundamental topics, from genetics and molecular biology to evolution, gaining insights into how life forms grow, adapt, and survive. With a balance of scientific theory and hands-on research, our courses allow you to develop key skills in experimental design, data analysis, and critical thinking. Whether your interest lies in immunology, biomedical research, or pharmacology, our courses provide a well-rounded foundation. You’ll gain awareness of the ethical and environmental considerations that shape modern biological research, preparing you to make meaningful contributions in academia, industry, and beyond.
Biological Sciences go beyond just studying living organisms; they’re about unlocking the secrets of life and addressing global challenges. A career in this field lets you make a meaningful difference by advancing our understanding of health, ecosystems, and biodiversity. Whether it’s researching genetic disorders, or developing scientific patents, biological sciences offer diverse and impactful ways to contribute.
In roles like biologist, environmental scientist, or microbiologist, you’ll work closely with nature, analysing complex systems and processes. You could conduct research in laboratories, protect endangered species in the field, or improve food security through biotechnological innovation. As a healthcare scientist, you might develop diagnostic tools or study disease patterns, or work in policy to address environmental issues on a larger scale. Whether in research, conservation, or public health, a qualification in biological sciences equips you to make a lasting impact on our world and its future.
Senior Lecturer
Her research spans developmental neurobiology, glycobiology, and metabolic physiology, utilizing mammalian models and C. elegans. Her work focuses on glycosylated membrane proteins, including syndecan-3, FGF, and Klotho signaling.
Senior Lecturer
Research spans flavivirus infections, including Dengue and Zika viruses. With a PhD from Utrecht University and postdoctoral work at Harvard, his expertise spans oxidative protein folding, immune responses, and nanobody development to combat viral infections.
Reader
Specialises in cell biology, proteomics, and antimicrobials. His research focuses on the antibacterial and antibiofilm mechanisms of fish-derived peptides, with interests spanning cancer research, regenerative biology, and extracellular matrix studies.
